10 REASONS TO BE VEGAN: Why people make the change

VEGAN.png

The number of people becoming vegan around the world has been growing rapidly for several years. In some countries, the percentage of vegans is exploding. With this explosion has come a disproportionate increase in conflict and confusion around the topic. This blog will endeavour to shed some light on this contentious subject, by looking at the various internal and external factors behind why people become vegan - and how this reflects in their attitude and behaviour.

Thirty years ago, very few people knew what the word vegan meant. Today, the word is so common it is practically a household word. What the word represents has been the basis of many wars of words and clashes of intellects. However, these problems are mainly due to the fact that being vegan can mean very different things to different people.

To most people, veganism is not just a dietary choice. It is also a complete lifestyle, where they avoid using anything that is made using animal products, such as leather, silk, fur, and products tested on animals. They also avoid anything involving animals, such as zoos, horse racing, and even owning pets. Many of these choices are not hard to understand, but being able to define exactly why people turn vegan can help put the whole topic into perspective.

There are 10 main reasons why an individual will choose to be vegan:

1.    Health Benefits - to improve overall health or eliminate the impact consuming animal products has on maintaining optimal health

2.    Nutrition - understanding that a plant based diet is much better in terms of nutritional content

3.    Avoidance of dis-ease - the fact that many animal products are laced with toxic chemicals, packed with artificial hormones, and full of harmful micro-organisms

4.    Animal cruelty - preventing, reducing and eliminating the suffering of animals while on farms, during transportation (live export), and in abattoirs, zoos and domestic settings

5.    Honouring the Oneness of Spirit - knowing that all living forms are the One Spirit, or the conscious awareness that all living beings are the Self in another form

6.    Reverence for all Life - a religious reverence for all living creatures, honouring the fact that all living things are sentient beings

7.    Environmental Conservation - the devastating impact of the animal industry is having on all the ecosystems around the world

8.    Health Conditions - veganism is seen to support people who are seeking to cure a dis-ease, prevent allergies, lose weight, reduce the risk of heart ailments etc.

9.    Social reasons - some people may inspired by their family, partner or friends to make the change, or they were born into an environment that supports the vegan diet/lifestyle

10. Financial reasons - people in some regions of the world may find a plant-based diet more affordable without the expenses of looking after animals, or processing, transporting and storing the products

Now that you are aware of these factors, you will be able to understand the hearts and minds of all vegans. You will also be able to discern the thoughts and feelings of most non-vegans. For example, when people ask why someone is vegan, they will usually frame their question around one or more of these factors, for example: “Are you vegan for health or spiritual reasons?” Whenever I am asked why I am vegan, I usually answer, “For every reason you could ever imagine.”

There are many factors that have influenced our individual perceptions, which then determine our Hierarchy of Values. We nearly all grow up to develop the beliefs purported in our culture. Addressing these often deeply ingrained beliefs can be extremely confronting when trying to understand the vegan perspective and approach to life. The biggest issue that most vegans realise is the complete lack of awareness that all living creatures are sentient beings. The inability to perceive this leaves most of humanity void of compassion for the animals. They may come in contact with pets and some wildlife, and feel all warm and fuzzy, but follow this experience with a meal containing animal products.

In my book The Nature of Life, I explain all the factors that make up an individual’s perspective of reality. The combinations between the Top-down and Bottom-up Perspective of Reality, together with The Conscious and Dualistic Perspective of Reality, lead to an infinite number of diverse theories and philosophies about life. This is why it would be almost impossible to find any two people who share the exact same beliefs about every facet of life. This fact carries over into the vegan community.

All of our core beliefs are based on our perspective of reality, which determines whether we are acting upon our reasoning, or consciously living our Truth. Reasoning is based on intellectual concepts and understandings, which means we can possibly develop stubborn opinions, or be easily swayed by the others’ opinions. Living consciously means you have a great sense of purpose, which supports a deep feeling of equanimity. Therefore, when vegans have expanded their consciousness to embrace all living creatures, they automatically develop a true and powerful sense of purpose. They can then consciously share this experience with all other vegans.

Many vegans become activists for animals rights and welfare, and do it in a remarkably eloquent and articulate way. There are many brilliant speakers and presenters who paint a very real and honest picture of the significant issues the world faces due to a non-vegan way of living. The internet is full of outstanding material produced by these warriors of Truth.

There are, of course, many egoic reasons why an individual will be vegan. These people are often the cause of all the conflict and confusion, because they are not coming from a place of genuine humility and love. There is a relatively small number of fundamentalists who insist on preaching to and badgering non-vegans. They are often just following the trend with a compensatory need to be ‘special’, or driven by a deeper sense of superiority. It is important everyone realises their obnoxious behaviour is equally repulsive to other vegans, as they give everyone else a bad name and taint the overall spirit of the movement.

There are some even more obnoxious ex-vegans who are full authoritarianism. It is based on their own negative experience while being vegetarian or vegan. Many proclaim they tried to be a vegan but got too sick or didn’t have any energy. They have little to no true understanding of health and proceed to aggressively deny that a vegan or vegetarian diet has any place. The stupid thing is that most practitioners are oblivious to the Truth as well. I will cover all the health aspects of a vegan diet and lifestyle in a future blog, but for now, we will continue revealing why some people struggle with the whole concept.

One of the biggest issues people face when exploring the vegan approach is the conflicting science supporting both sides. There are diabolically opposed views on nearly every topic within this subject. This can be extremely confusing and upsetting for people wanting to make an informed decision. There are the usual amounts of ignorance and arrogance on both sides of what is often an argument. However, when you consider all the evidence that is free of the biased information and propaganda from the underbelly of society - the medical/ pharmaceutical/ military/ industrial complex - the answers are immediately obvious, self-evident, undeniable, and indisputable. However, it seems very few are genuinely open and willing to get to the true heart of the matter.

It is essential to remember why most people lack genuine receptivity, and meet anything new with an unhealthy amount of skepticism. Nearly everyone is born into a culture that indoctrinates them with prejudice and bias - not just towards animals, but other races, cultures, and even classes within their own culture. Therefore, the hideous mindset that many have towards animals is very difficult to break, because it is so deeply embedded into their culture. They can’t ever be judged or blamed, because they simply don’t see any need to question this element of their reality.

This also explains a lot of the ignorance and arrogance within converts. It starts when they forget that they themselves, and all the vegans they know, have probably not always been vegan - and it was perhaps only a relatively short time ago they weren’t. Like most people, they may have never thought of it as being an issue until they were exposed to what triggered their awakening and the change to veganism.

I trust this blog has provided you with clarity around what being a vegan stands for. This topic is guaranteed to be an ongoing issue within our society. So, it is best that everyone puts aside all their prejudice and bias and look for ways of genuinely coming together as a race. Like I said, the answers are obvious to anyone who truly cares to look for them. But ultimately, we all need to start by embracing just one simple natural lore - Do No Harm.

COMMUNICATING IN THE MODERN WORLD: How to avoid the decline

communicating in the modern world.png

A few days ago on social media, someone posted a video of a guy sharing his thoughts and feelings about being vegan. The vicious comments that ensued from a carnivore were nothing short of an absolute disgrace. It seems humanity is no longer permitted to openly and humbly communicate without being accused of forcing our opinions onto others or lecturing to those with opposing views.

The decline in our manner of communication and ability to honour freedom of speech is unprecedented. Most people are caught up in a perpetual reality show, forgetting the fact that the whole drama is not real. The explosive comments on social media is indicative of a world gone completely mad. Whatever happened to “Live and let Live”?

A very common and disturbing reaction to someone’s expression is twisting what they say into a declaration of superiority. There have been many times I have had to clarify what I have shared due to someone reacting. It has been necessary to explain that I am simply sharing what and how I think and feel about a topic. By doing so, I am not in any way suggesting that what others are thinking, doing or saying is wrong, or that I am exclusively right. I am simply sharing what true for me at this point in time.

Ultimately, all forms of conflict and confusion within humanity means that there is ignorance and/or arrogance on one or more sides. Most people are not open to seeing other people’s point of view or understanding other's feelings. You have to realise that most of the aggression and hostility people display is a direct result of the energies and properties of what they consume. Their food, water, air and sensory input is so denatured and toxic that it would be seen as insane even a hundred years ago. On top of that, we have so many races with diverse cultural beliefs mashing together in society, that it is almost impossible for most people to be open to others with a different hierarchy of values.

The answer for those who do get upset by other people’s opinions is easy - avoid exposing yourself to them by not clicking on the post, article or video. Likewise, the answer for someone who has been abused by an aggressor is equally simple. And yes, people’s insane reactions and malicious comments can be very disheartening, but there is an empowering way to deal with such situations. Just ignore it!

There is a saying in India, “First BE, then DO, then, if necessary, TELL.” By “if necessary”, it means ONLY if asked. But it seems the whole world is doing the complete opposite to this - everyone is telling others what to do, without ever doing it them self, so no one ever gets the chance to just BE.

Unless it is part of your duty, you are better off just remaining silent. It is pointless trying to communicate with those who are not interested in another point of view, or capable of understanding feelings that are contrary to their own. It is better to just live by example and wait to be asked. However, regardless of who you are communicating with, it is always important to be aware of The 12 Intentions Behind Asking A Question (click to read my earlier blog).

Life is very, very simple. It is in fact all black or white. Either the people around you support you in living the Truth within your Heart and Mind, or they don’t. If they don’t then move on. It is not worth spending time and energy getting upset over people’s appalling attitude and behaviour. I share in jest the final line from the cartoon Madagascar, “Just smile and wave boys!”

Having said that, if and when I do find it necessary to share my thoughts and feelings, I will instantly cut ties within anyone who dismisses or ridicules me. I simply don’t want to waste a single breath on anyone who doesn’t cannot honour other’s thoughts and feelings. I have a saying, which is residual of my martial arts background, “I have my sword drawn and I am ready to use the bloody thing!” I am only interested in communicating with genuinely open and honest people. I only want to be with those who sincerely seek the best for every living being.

Personally, I am happy just minding my own business. I don’t need to have an opinion about anyone else’s life. I don’t need to have everyone know and understand me. I am not looking to make anyone else feel less than whole and complete. I don’t care whether if someone is doing the right thing or not. I am not interested in anyone’s private life. I can’t be bothered knowing people's sexual orientation. I couldn’t care less about anyone’s political views. I don’t want to try to impress anyone with what I know or do, or have done. I don’t have the mental space to worry about other people’s ignorance and arrogance. Likewise, it is none of anyone else’s business how you live!

Don’t worry about anyone else’s opinion. If anyone gets upset with you, just say, “Your opinion of me is none of my business”. You don’t need to win friends and influence people. Just spend your time and energy being the best person you can possibly be. What is important is how you communicate with people who are on the same wavelength as you. The only thing that matters is that you live and share the highest Truth that you are aware of. Everything else is none of your business.

In my events, I physically demonstrate how we lose our energy to resisting any external force. By simply ignoring the resistance, you contain all your energies and can then direct them towards what is true for you. It is important to realise that whenever you take your focus of what you are doing, you lose integration and waste all your time and energy. Furthermore, when you know how to stay truly connected within yourself, and remain present, you are capable of doing truly extraordinary things.

EXISTENTIAL CRISIS: How to Find The Light Again

EXISTENTIAL CRISIS.png

Today’s blog is more of an extended article. This theme has been buzzing me for the last few years, and then a couple of days ago, the whole piece that follows came to me. I thought I would take some time out from writing my next book and share it with you.

EXISTENTIAL CRISIS:

How to Find The Light Again

It seems no one is immune to times in life when things don’t go well. But for some, there seems to be periods when things go bad. Really bad. And not just in a few areas of their life, but EVERYTHING! Their whole world is turned upside down and inside out. We are going to explore some of the elements that play out when people go through a personal crisis. Not just any crisis, but what is termed an existential crisis. This is when an individual questions if their life has any real meaning, purpose, or value.

Some reading this may be just entering this state, some may be in the middle of it, others coming out of it, while others may be looking back on it. Whether you or someone you know are going through some kind of crisis, this article may give you an understanding of the many different factors and components that feed the state.

Some deal with a crisis better than others, but the worst of times leave even the sturdiest of souls trembling in their wake. Many forms of entertainment glorify a hero’s ability to remain composed and display fortitude in extreme situations. But most of us are not highly trained service personnel or superheroes. We are average people who could one day wake up in a nightmare. The reality is that the next phone call could make or break us. So what happens when we find ourselves facing our worst nightmare?

Many live in fear of a worst case scenario unfolding in their life. This fear is often based on an underlying feeling of being unworthy or undeserving, instilled by cultural conditioning and programming. The fear is often justified with many people being one pay cheque away from being homeless. However, there is a massive hole in our individual and collective psyche when it comes to truly understanding how to deal with trauma and crises. The shocking statistics of returned veterans in all countries is a testimony of the fact that we don’t really have a grip on this element of our reality.

You may have been through many periods of chaos and confusion, and bounced back. You might know people who have been to hell and back, and come out stronger and wiser. Many cities are full of homeless people, who simply exist from one day to the next. Most of them never thought it could happen to them. The downtrodden are often abandoned, and the broken usually live alone with debilitating mental illnesses. Then there are the millions all around the world who live in extreme poverty. The question is: What keeps people going in these rough times?

I have lived the extremes of what life can deal. I have seen the best and the worst of it with my own eyes. I have smelt the stench of open sewers, rotting flesh, and suffocating pollution. I have heard the screams of abandoned children and deadly gunfire. I have felt the shock of suicide bombs and lethal earthquakes. However, I was recently forced to look back on everything, and reframe it. I realised that I had totally missed the point, and the ongoing consolidation of that experience is the inspiration for this article.

Does surviving the extremes help us deal with life when crisis strikes? The fact is, regardless of how much you love your partner, despite all the promises you made, and the vows you took, regardless of all the dreams and aspirations you shared, irrespective of what you planned, or how hard you have worked, or how much money you have saved, life can turn in a heartbeat - and obliterate your dreams. How many people are really able to deal with such a situation? and how can we support ourselves and others during a crisis in a way that is effective?

It is important to realise that there are degrees of existential crises. Many experience a crisis in one or more Facets of Life, and on one or more Levels of Being. But what happens when everything collapses at the same time? - Our career turns to ashes?  Our life’s work fails? The potential fruits of our labour vanish before your eyes? Years of struggle and effort go completely unnoticed? Our gifts rejected? Our contributions denied?

Life can literally throw everything you have, internally and externally, out the window - at the same time. What if everything you have ever lived and worked for is erased in one fell swoop, and all your beliefs are slammed against an unforgiving wall? Where would that leave you?

The pressures of the world may be bearing down on you, and you have no way out, no lifeline - and usually, by this stage - you have nothing left to give. You reach a point where you have absolutely nothing left inside. No reserves. No options. Nothing. Not even the basis for thinking about alternatives. You may have literally cried your heart out and have no more tears left - but still, the crisis persists, and persists.

Everything you thought was real is no longer relevant. Everything you have ever wanted no longer seems appealing. Everyone you enjoyed spending time with is no longer a source of good company. The gaping wound from your sacrifices may even be seen as a weakness. You may be overwhelmed by inconsolable grief, but not know what you are grieving. Your entire life is a disaster zone. You have done your absolute best - and it still wasn't good enough. You may feel like a complete failure and worry about becoming a total loser for the rest of your life.

Who Can Help?

This state can sneak up on you over years or happen in an instant. It can seemingly come on anywhere, anytime, for anyone. Likewise, the state can go slowly or quickly. Either way, you question EVERYTHING! What is the meaning of life? Is there really any purpose? Is Love real? Is it possible to share it on Earth? You may be left asking, Who cares? Who REALLY cares? Is anyone even capable of truly caring?

From the outside, this all may look and sound pathetic. Your family may think you have lost the plot. Your friends may think you have turned psycho. You may even begin to think the same about yourself. The medical system will say you have a chemical imbalance in the brain, label you as being depressed, and just want to medicate you. Many imply that you have a choice in what happens, how you feel, and what you think. They may even imply it is attention seeking behaviour, or that you are stuck in a poor me state and throwing a tantrum. But the opposite to all this is true.

Existential crises are very much an individual experience. Some people have no religious or spiritual basis to begin to understand the feelings when they begin to creep in. If they are hit with a sudden shock, they may immediately fail to adapt and suicide. There is often an overwhelming feeling of alienation and isolation. This is especially true when the crisis is due to growth and not a loss. If you have outgrown everything and everyone around you, it may be impossible to find anyone who can understand your feelings.

Everyone likes to think they can ‘help’ their friends and loved ones get through a hard time. Some consider themselves a kind of guru or pundit. However, you may have to be prepared for some really dumb remarks and very inappropriate opinions by those who try to help. Your closest friends might make dumb smart arse comments in an effort to trigger a change in you. Even health professionals will say some really, really stupid things in an effort to ‘help’.

Some will attempt to dissolve your concerns with religious quotes, scientific theories and mystical philosophies. It becomes easy to tell when the well-meaning advice is coming from an educated mind, or philosophical perspective, or psychological standpoint. Some renowned thinkers have offered suggestions. Nietzsche proposed - “Suppose you lived your life 1000 times over without changing anything. Do you have any problems with this life? Regrets?”

Another question in this scrutiny is, "If I discovered the Truth and meaning of life, then what would I do, think, and feel?" because what you imagine you would do, think, and feel are what you truly want anyway - the search for meaning and truth is just a means to those ends.

A thought experiment is: You know you only have 1 week to live. What do you do? Nothing you do matters so why bother? But you have your entire life to live, not just a week. Now you have to figure out that rocking chair question. You are in your advanced years, rocking in a chair and thinking about your life. Was it a good life?

All these well-meaning suggestions will often fall well short of what someone in a true existential crisis needs. Despite everyone’s best efforts, they often only make matters worse, adding to the vacant feeling and sense of everything being hollow. Many cannot face the inner confusion and conflict, especially when it starts affecting their external reality. This is when people turn to cigarettes, alcohol and other substances to numb the pain and distract the mind. The deeper the pain, the worse the dependency or addiction.

So what happens when things are so bad, that none of the usual hype works? What happens when you feel so down that there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel? When pressed for a suggestion, most will shake their heads and come back with a cliché that reinforces the need for perseverance and determination, like, "If it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger". Hearing such empty platitudes only makes you want to isolate yourself even more.

When you are no longer able to play the games of society, many people will take a step back and judge you. They may even attack you directly, or slander you behind your back in an effort to ruin your reputation just because you are no longer capable of honouring your previous commitments. Some will scold you with comments like, “Get over yourself, and get on with it!” These heartless people really are not worthy of a comment, so don't waste any time getting upset by them.

Alternatively, some people may humbly admit, “I have no idea what to say to you” and shrug you off. Those with a little more compassion may give you a warm hug. But perhaps the worst case is you find yourself being bombarded by all the New Age philosophical bullshit - “You must have chosen this on a higher level”, or “It’s your karma”, or “You are creating it for yourself”. Other well-meaning people will offer advice, like, “Just let it go.” But they fail to understand that the problem is there is actually no ‘self’ left inside of you to let anything go - or receive anything new for that matter.

You are not looking for sympathy or attention. You are desperately looking for something true and solid within yourself upon which to base these foreign thoughts and strange feelings. Your life is like a piñata. You are blind and keep searching for something that doesn’t appear to exist in your realm of consciousness. Whatever you do hit, turns out to be empty, or just full of artificially sweetened dogma. All you want is a sense of normality, but it is everything about normality that makes you go crazy.

Many friends and family will naturally fall away altogether. They may have been with you for a few steps along the way, or supported you on a leg of your journey. They were perhaps even your beloved partner. This shedding seems to be a natural part of the transformation. It is not because you are a sociopath or a narcissist and are cutting people off. It is because you have outgrown them, or the person you were when you kept their company. They may no longer be able to support you in a way that is true on the next stage of your evolution. But again, none of this means anything when you are stuck in the middle of the transition, void of any sense of what is real.

When we endeavour to share our thoughts and feeling with those close to us, it often challenges them in a way that they don’t understand. You are most likely to bring up the same deep repressed and unresolved issues from their childhood, which makes it impossible for them to offer any real comfort or counsel. Most people have settled into their mundane lives, their compromised relationships and their comfort zones. They have an immense aversion to anyone or anything that makes them question the nature of reality.

Depending on where they are at within themselves and life, they may never have needed to revisit the shadows lurking within themselves. Most peoples' minds just draw a blank at the thought of such a crisis ever happening to them. Many spend a great deal of time, money and energy insulating themselves from anyone who is not as stable or secure as themselves. The basis for the aversion, isolation and distraction is they innately know they aren't equiped to 'go there' within themselves. But, the nature of an existential crisis is that you have no choice but to go there - and it is often impossible to begin to comprehend anything about your situation.

It is actually unfair to expect anyone to be willing to consider what you are going through, because they are no more equipped to deal with the situation than you. It is essential to realise that most people only have extremely limited associations of change in their lives. This is through no fault of their own. It is because their world built on ignorance. Perpetuated by arrogance. Directed by biased science. Driven by fake money. Manipulated by the super elite. Corrupted by greed. Limited by education. And most importantly, brainwashed by religion. Therefore, true growth and transformation are not something the world can begin to understand. So anyone who has not experienced this level of transformation will never begin to comprehend the reality of this state.

What Causes An Existential Crisis?

Every dis-ease is due to an excess and/or deficiency in some aspect of your life. However, all dis-ease starts with an initial deficiency. The original lack causes the excess to manifest, and then things can continue to spiral downwards from there. The excess and deficiency can literally be anything - the excess of social drugs, pharmaceuticals, environmental toxins, religious abuse, or dietary deficiencies or the lack of sunlight. Whatever the source of the pain and confusion in your life, it will ALWAYS stem from a deviation away from Nature.

Despite appearances, very few people really 'have their shit together’. My research has shown that nearly everyone is only one ‘n’th of a degree away from having a breakdown. The basis of this is due to a lack of neurological development. I have developed a series of neurological tests and performed them on thousands of people. The shocking truth is, I am yet to find a single individual who has developed beyond infant level.

Unlike crows, our natural pathways and intelligence simply don’t develop, because we are conceived and born in a survival state. This translates to nearly everyone living with a neurological deficit and operating only on their compensations. This adds a new dimension to the understanding that everyone is just doing the best they can with what they have. Our collective reality is best summed up in the saying. "We never really grow up, we just learn how to behave in public."

Our inherited and acquired strengths and weaknesses determine how much we can compensate and how long we can keep it up. Many like myself will find these compensations give way when young. The quarter-life crisis is why there is a high suicide rate between the age of 18 and 25. This can be when the world’s realities hit, and many find they simply can’t cope - which actually means continue compensating. If there is not enough Light in an individual’s life, they may not make it through. However, people of all ages can be faced with the same realities, as there are older age brackets where the suicide rates are much higher.

The Sociological Basis

You would be hard-pressed to find anyone over the age of 28 who hasn’t gone through a period of not wanting to go on living. But very few ever really know the full depth and extent to which an existential crisis can hit a person. The question that needs to be asked is WHY?

Ironically, it literally goes back to ‘WHY’. In my travels, I saw children in every culture go through that period of constantly asking, “Why?” Every answer was met with another “Why?” So when you think about it, isn’t it odd how the question is ‘Why?’ everywhere around the world?
Not “When?” in India, or “How?” in Peru, “Where?” in Barbados etc.
Children EVERYWHERE ask “WHY?”!

So again, WHY?
It is because we aren't living in harmony with Nature, which has caused us to lose connection to the true Essence of Life. Ultimately, the Truth should be self-evident, indisputable and undeniable. Yet I haven't seen a single culture where everything just goes without saying. Therefore, the energy signature of our parents and ancestors were void of the innate ancestral knowledge that gives us a true sense of meaning and purpose in life.

We are born ignorant, and if we are not given satisfactory answers to the questions we ask, we eventually have to adopt a belief and do our best to fit in - even when nothing around us makes any sense at all. If we are in a happy, safe, clean and abundant environment, we may get through our whole lives unchallenged. But there are those who, despite seemingly having everything in their favour, get confronted by a different reality.  A reality that is so completely foreign, they literally have no Reference Points of Truth in order to begin to grasp what is happening to them, or why.

We may be able to get by on our compensations for a while, and try to fake it until we make it…. whatever ‘making it’ actually is. But at the same time, the media is also full of reports of those who have ‘made it’ living lives of chaos - with addiction and divorce being the main themes. So even trying to make it in the world loses its appeal. There is little to no incentive to set goals and work hard to achieve them, when at the end of the day, you will most likely just end up like your parents. There is nothing attractive about a lifetime of contending with all the injustice, corruption and inequality in society. So we are left feeling like everything is pointless.

As a practitioner, I deal with people in varying degrees of crisis all day every day. Whether it is health conditions, financial difficulties, relationship problems, career issues, nearly everyone is dealing with some kind of drama. There is a saying, “If everyone sat in a circle and put all their problems in the middle, nearly everyone would take back theirs.” However, this is not the case for someone going through an existential crisis! They wouldn’t wish what they are going through on their worst enemy. It is excruciatingly painful, mentally debilitating, emotionally overwhelming, and financially draining.

When I researched the psychology and philosophy of war veterans, prisoners of war and concentration camp survivors,  I inquired into what gave them the will to live and endure things like extreme torture. The replies were varied - everything from the need for revenge, to the need to see their mother again. But I also asked why they felt others around them often failed to survive. The answer to this was nearly always the same. They hadn’t grown up in a harsh enough environment to adapt to the stress.

This may suggest our ability to develop survival pathways while growing up in an environment that gave us enough nourishment and nurturing, determines our ability to cope with extreme challenges in life. But, we would be wrong. It all depends on whether or not we have the pathways to deal with the issues we are facing. If we have a weak link in the required area, it may cause a complete collapse. I have found this to be true.

Taking a Step Back

It can be maddening not having reference points beyond all that you have known. Until the inspirations and insights come to you, it may feel like there is nothing at all you can think, do or say to improve your situation. But as Winston Churchill famously said, “If you are going through hell, keep going!” Despite how you feel, you are never really alone. If you are alone, it won’t be for long. As they say, “It is just a passing cloud”.

The weirdest thing is, you know you are not depressed as such. There is actually a part of you that feels more alive than ever. The majority of you is completely numb and dumb, perhaps in shock. But at the same time, deep within, there is a knowing that things are happening for a reason. As platitudinous as this may sound, and as empty as you are, you know this is True. When you take a big enough step back from your situation, you will realise that you are being melted down and molded like an instrument. You are being beaten into shape. Each blow from life bends you closer to the required state.

An existential crisis usually has a blanket effect on every aspect and facet of the individual’s reality. It doesn’t allow you to settle for anything. It tears at the very heart of the life within you. It eats away at the absolute core of your being, and rips away the very fabric of your known existence. It seems almost impossible to find any crack in the walls of darkness to enable any light to enter your mind. The reason for this is because the Light essentially must come from within. So the pain and confusion don’t stop until you reconnect with the true essence of life within.

Essentially, what is happening is something in your life, or within you, has to go - in order for something new to come in. What will come in is essential to who you truly are and why you are here. The reason this whole experience is so excruciatingly painful is because you are being forced to accept the fact that this part of you is missing. And you need it to be able to continue living true to your Path.

It stands to reason that if you were already in your Natural state, feeling whole and complete, you wouldn’t be going through this experience. You would have the strength to consciously live what you are here to do. So you just need to be at Peace with not knowing what this is ahead of time. There is no way for you to foresee any of what comes or goes.

If those around you do have a true spiritual, religious or philosophical perspective of reality, they may have something to offer you. They may have even established their perspective as a result of a crisis, and be able to offer some guidance. But don’t bet on it - because one of the main elements of yourself that is being transformed requires total solitude. And there is seemingly no substitute or means of avoiding this particular factor of the journey. It is like the caterpillar has to undergo the experience of becoming a butterfly all by itself.

No one is going to be able to give you the answers you need. Even if they could tell you, you wouldn’t get it - because the answers must come from within you. Once you get your head and heart around this key point, you will stop looking outside yourself for answers or help - and truly begin the journey inwards. You may have reached this point and be still dealing with the reality of a full-blown crisis.

 What Can You Do?

The truth is, the further we go away from a pure, simple, natural, wholistic life, the worse things get. This is True for everyone, everywhere! The meaning of life is to have fun. The purpose of life is to share that fun with as many people as possible. The most fun thing to do is to tap into the fullness of your creative genius. The most fulfilling thing is to master your unique gifts, talents and skills, and use them to serve others on their journey to self-actualisation. Realising and accepting these things makes the answer to any crisis quite simple.

First, purify everything. Get EVERYTHING that is not natural out of your life. Think indigenous! Only eat pure, fresh, raw, organic, whole, vegan foods. Then, simplify EVERYTHING! If you don’t feel anything or anyone can comfort or console you, I suggest you immerse yourself in solitude! - and spend as much time in Nature as you can!

One of the most important influences in peoples' lives is the company they keep - so move on from everyone who does not genuinely support you in living and sharing the highest Truth you know. If they are not free of doubt, judgment and question, or beyond guilt, shame and blame, then they are not good company. Once free of them, then the right people will come into your life to fill the void. In the meantime, embrace the solitude - and get creative!

Also, watch and read everything that makes you laugh. This will help you to learn how not to take yourself or life personally or seriously. Keep a journal and only write what you know are facts of Truth. This will reinforce all the growth you can identify within yourself.

Life is essentially an all or nothing experience. So truly speaking, you can only share your life with people genuinely understand existential crises, having possibly gone through one or come out the other side. They will be free of all the doubt, judgment and question, guilt, shame and blame. The Buddha is quoted as saying, “Travel with thy equals or thy betters. If none available, travel alone.”  It is better to travel alone than to spend time with someone who is not authentic in their thoughts, words and deeds, They must be able to genuinely live in the present, and never compromise, contradict or deny you or others in living the Truth.

While living in India, I went through my share of challenges. A master once comforted me by saying, “The dead will fall away.” This means anything and anyone that cannot support you in finding and fulfilling your true potential and purpose will fall away. This is guaranteed!! Make no mistake of the fact that everything that no longer serves your highest Path will be ripped from you, eroded away, smashed to pieces, or burned to a crisp.

Once you are able to stay awake, you will realise that nearly everyone else is only sleepwalking. They habitually pursue certain experiences WITHIN consciousness, but you are being forced to find the true experience OF consciousness.

You may never fully understand why things have happened, are happening or will happen the way they do. Even once it all eventually clears, you may be left with an uneasy feeling inside. You may not be totally at Peace with what you have been through. If that part of you were to look back, you would be bewildered as to WTF it was all about.

Eventually, in time, you may look back and find the ‘scars’ have faded, or even disappeared. You may even think, “OMG! That fricking experience damn near killed me, and now I can’t even hardly see where it was.” This is because you will be transformed. In the same way a butterfly doesn’t resemble a caterpillar, your new self will in no way resemble your old self. Remember, the past is past. There doesn’t need to any residue of it in the present, so you are free to embrace a totally new future.

A colleague and I have a saying we share whenever the occasion suits, “Well, that was interesting. Perhaps a little more interesting than is necessary!” Everything you are going through, or have been through, may seem unnecessary. You are still on Earth. Maybe sharing in all the same old things, in the same places, with perhaps a few familiar faces. But essentially, nothing really changes. Sometimes it is just your perspective shifts, your perceptions widen, or your approach differs.

It can be a case of, “Before Enlightenment, chop wood and carry water. After Enlightenment, chop wood and carry water.” But you may feel far from Enlightened. You may be left feeling completely left in the dark. Living in limbo. Hanging by a thread. Holding on by your fingertips. Bouncing from pillar to post. Rolling with the punches. Whatever your reality is, sooner or later, you will be forced to just go with the flow!

I have a saying, “If you think you know what you are doing in Life, you are doing something wrong. Because if you are not on the leading edge of consciousness, expanding into the unknown, then you are not living the Truth!” As the Tibetans say, “Develop the wisdom of insecurity.” Ultimately, no one really knows what is just around the corner. Having the inner strength to deal with whatever comes is the basis of the Peace that we all seek. This experience is forcing you to find that place and stay there. Keep ascending to the inner summit, and trust that it is all unfolding as it should.

The fact is, very few people are truly at Peace, despite seemingly having everything. Therefore, we can now assume the only reason why the Universe makes things like this happen, is to get you on your true Path in Life, so you consciously know how to remain at Peace - no matter what happens to you. That place of authenticity within yourself is what you are actually seeking. So embrace the ride, regardless of how wild and tumultuous it may be. The ultimate outcome is inevitable! - you just have to keep going!

Lastly, I am not sharing this because I have any answers, but because I know I don’t have any answers. I remain on the leading edge of consciousness, expanding into the unknowable! I still have no idea why I have had to go through everything I have experienced. But I am at Peace knowing I may never know, and ultimately don’t need to know. So if you in any way relate to what I have written, then I encourage you to be at Peace - regardless your situation.

The life you had may feel like it is over. But it isn’t - because what happens at the end of something? The beginning of something else. This means a whole new life is coming to you, ready or not! And yes, Love is real! Yes, you can truly Love and be Loved! Yes, it is possible to share it on Earth! And it doesn't matter who really cares. It matters that you do. And you truly do, because you have gone to this much trouble to find the depth of the Truth within you. So honour your honesty, the honour those who stick by you.

If you or anyone you know are going through or have been through an existential crisis, please share thoughts below.

NEW EDITION OF MY BOOK

*The latest version of my book is now available*

For the lastest edition I have gone back to the original title:

THE NATURE OF LIFE: How to remain at Peace while living in the modern world

This title best suits the direction the material is going. I have also made lots of little changes throughout to make it clearer and even more definitive.

The Nature of Life connects all existing fields of thought - philosophy, religion, science, mathematics, language, art and music - putting everyone on the same page. Brian presents key tools that allow us to consciously remain in a natural state of empowerment whilst living in the modern world.

Being all-encompassing, The Nature of Life inspires us to embrace the whole spectrum of life, taking us on a journey of self-discovery as it sets the foundation for a totally new approach to life. It is not just a book, it is a map, a tool, a path, and a work of art, explaining how we can bring everything into the present moment, and deliberately move towards a future only ever dreamed possible.

THE 18 ORIGINS OF THOUGHTS

Nearly everyone has had pivotal moments when their life changed - for better or worse. One of my most significant moments happened late one afternoon when I was 19 years old. I was practicing in my race kart at the end of a long hot day. The track surface was cooling down and the edges were covered with dust and shreds of tyres. A sweeping bend at the end of the main straight challenged a driver’s bravery and skill, and those that had both would take it full throttle. With my foot flat, I picked my line and turned the wheel, but I miscalculated and nipped the inside curb. The slight bump unsettled the kart, and sent me into a tailspin.

I had a momentary lapse in concentration, where I clearly felt the disconnection between my mind and body. In that moment, time seemed to stop and move in frames. My consciousness felt like it split into the different levels of my being. I saw how my mind and body were separate, and my soul was just a part of a spiritual presence that was beyond my individual form. I witnessed my thoughts as they appeared on the screen of the mind. I thought, “I just lost concentration, and now I am spinning out of control. I need to devote myself to finding the connection between my mind and body, so I can consciously maintain concentration.” I spun off the track at high speed and crashed into a tyre barrier. The angel of impact left me and the kart unscathed, but my whole being had been jolted by a realisation.

I sat for a few moments, stunned by the fact that I actually had no idea about how to maintain mental concentration and physical co-ordination. I didn’t know how to control my mind, even though I had read many positive thinking books, religious texts etc. I still wasn’t empowered with the knowledge of what connects the mind and body. I fully realised the significance of not being able to focus and apply my mind at will, and how that would limit my potential.

The next evening, I went to my martial arts class all fired up. I was overcome by a burning need to understand the true workings of the mind. I told my instructor what had happened and asked him, “What connects the mind and body?” His answer, “The breath!” This fact has stayed with me ever since, and I have literally spent every moment since exploring the nature and origins of thoughts, and the role the breath plays in our state of being.

Over the years that followed, I studied and researched the mind from every possible angle. But it wasn’t until I went to India six years later and experienced deep meditation that I sealed the connection. Along the way, I asked people a myriad of questions like, “Where do your thoughts come from? Where do they go? How do you concentrate your mind? What makes you happy? What makes you sad?” The replies ranged from complete awe and wonder, to arrogant and dismissive contempt. But what became obvious was no one really understood the origins of  their thoughts.

Despite many New Agers claiming to be creating their own reality, and teachers telling students to concentrate, and parents telling their children to change their attitude and behaviour - no one could tell me exactly what thoughts actually were, or how to determine what thoughts came into their mind. On top of that, no one could tell me how to empty their mind of thoughts that wouldn’t go - like how to get rid of a song stuck in your head?  So if ‘we are what we think’, then the key to our empowerment must be in understanding the true origins of our thoughts.

It is now a few decades on from that fateful karting incident, and the level of awareness within our species remains low. There are millions of highly intelligent, well educated, extremely knowledgeable, and incredibly experienced individuals, but it seems there aren’t many conscious beings in our world. I am not saying this out of arrogance or superiority, but in absolute humility. After years of having spoken to thousands of people from all walks of life, all around the world, I have only met nine people who were aware of what I am about to share.

After years meditating, experimentation, practicing mind altering techniques, taking psychedelics etc., I have defined what I call, The 18 Origins of Thoughts. I have listed them with a brief definition in the table below:

The dominant force within your internal and external environment determines the origin and nature of the thoughts that arise in your mind. Each stress brings out a subpersonality based on what origin or origins of thought are being triggered. Imagine if you are really hungry, and how your thoughts may change. What about when you are really thirsty, tired or cold? What if you were hungry, thirsty, tired and cold - what thoughts would you have and who do you become?

Anyone who cares to investigate and explore this topic is best to start with their own inner experience. However, many people tend to seek external guidance, especially when they are having trouble with their mind or emotions. I have seen hundreds of practitioners, teachers and gurus who claim to know the nature of the mind, though I am yet to find anyone who truly understands the origins of thoughts. Many teach how to use the power of thoughts and intentions in healing and growth, but when asked directly or through their own admission, they have no real understanding of how the mind works.

The individual and collective potential this information offers is truly infinite. When you understand the basis to each origin, you can appreciate how all sentient beings share these thoughts. Just because we can’t communicate with plants or speak the same language as animals, doesn’t mean they aren’t having a full experience of consciousness. In fact, when the veil gets lifted using psychedelics, it is immediately obvious that humans are not the only conscious beings on Earth or in the Universe.

Imagine if at the end of each day you got to review a print out of all your thoughts - what would they comprise of? The masters who taught me were emphatic about being able to determine the nature and origin of every thought, in every moment, of every day. This is essentially the basis of awareness and the seat of empowerment. It is very black and white, and we can either do it or we can’t. There are specific techniques that enable everyone to become aware of their thoughts and maintain their concentration and attention. I go into this in great detail in my eBook The Conscious Being: A Practical Guide to The Nature of Life, as well as in my seminars and workshops.

This remains one of my favourite subjects to share and I trust you find this interesting and beneficial.

THE SCIENCE OF CONSCIOUS EATING

We are all made up of vibrating atoms, molecules and energies. Our individual reality in any given moment is determined by the images we hold in our mind’s eye. When we perceive a threat or have a fright, we can sense our energy field contract. Imagine a deadly snake or gun being pointed at you and feel the subtle shift in your energy. It is very common to see people contract in response to a threat. This natural reflex happens on all levels of our being, from the cellular through to the whole body and energetic field.

On the other hand, when we vibrate in harmony with the True Nature of Life, we feel light and open, and our energies radiate outwards. If I ask you to imagine walking along the beach in paradise, can you feel your energies open and expand? If you imagine Being in Heaven or Nirvana and flying like a bird, immediately your energy expands into the infinite and eternal.

To become a conscious being, it is essential to understand what creates and perpetuates your individual reality. Many people know and understand the saying, “You are what you think.” There is equal understanding and acceptance of the saying, “You are what you eat.” But very few people understand that the real power comes when you put these two sayings together:

YOUR ARE WHAT YOU THINK
YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT
YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK WHILE YOU EAT

The metaphysical link between who you are and what you will become actually lies in the moment where your Spirit and matter come together. The quality of what you consume - food, drink, air and sunlight - combined with the quality of your thoughts determines and perpetuates your overall experience of reality. The dominant energy at the time of eating will establish either a true sense of Being, or perpetuate a state equal to one of an intelligent animal.

One of the questions I ask people is, “Why do we eat food?” The answers always vary widely, but there is another metaphysical principle that is widely missed. The ultimate top-down reason why we eat food is, so that the energies and properties of plants can experience and express themselves in and through us. Therefore, when we are intuitively guided to eat the appropriate high quality plants, they merge with all the unique qualities of Soul to fuel and manifest them into our reality.

When we eat consciously, all the good qualities contained in the foods are brought out to align with our Soul. If we eat in a state of separation and division, our negative energies are fuelled and fed by the bad qualities of the foods. We can take on the negative effects of the chemical fertilizer, the emotions of the chef, and any disturbed energies of the food. Therefore, it is either the presence of our Soul or the negative energy of the food that find expression in and through us.

The cells of our body are the manifestation of all the sources of nourishment. An important question is: At what point or points can our cell’s memories give way to a new program or paradigm?

We have established that the cells of our body take on the program of whatever we think while we eat. The cellular memory, when in a negative vibrational state, is the basis of the ego, containing all limiting belief systems and concepts. The cells of the body can also take on a higher vibrational state and serve to manifest a person’s innate gifts, talents and skills. The cells can then gain access to the part of our consciousness that can perceive and experience the Divine. In this state, the Mind is unlimited, infinitely creative and contains all innate wisdom

I often ask the obscure question, “When does the food you eat become you?” Most people reply, “When it goes in my mouth”, whereas in fact, it is when it enters your energy or auric field. Another interesting point of view is, if you only ever ate carrots, at what point would you become a carrot eating a carrot?

The energy of food is no different or in any way separate from our own Spirit. Whatever we do to our food, we do to our Spirit! When we consume food in its natural state, it enables us to manifest our True and Natural State. The further the food is removed from its natural state the more delusional and illusionary our reality becomes. The degree to which we interfere with our food directly impacts our level of consciousness. The scale below will enable you to see exactly how much food influences your state of Being:

• An organic apple picked straight from a tree, and eaten in a conscious and deliberate way, will manifest Oneness, Bliss and Immortality - Love, Light and Life.

• A chemically sprayed apple picked and eaten will begin to disturb your energies in some way.

• A chemically sprayed apple that is put in cold storage for 2 months and then eaten, will dull your energies.

• If that apple was to be cooked in an apple pie and eaten, it will begin to darken and kill off your energies.

• If the apple pie is frozen, then cooked in a microwave, it will totally annihilate your energies.

• If this apple pie is cooked in a microwave then consumed watching a disturbing television show, whilst smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol and arguing with somebody late at night, it will totally obliterate your Soul!

The organic apple fresh off a tree will create a sense of being whole and complete, in the Present. Fresh, raw, organic foods instil Light, Peace, Love and all the qualities of the Spirit for our soul. A candy bar cannot have this affect. Foods that are refined and dead create a feeling of being separate, as well as speed up and intensify any negative state within the person who consumes it. On an emotional level, we will feel isolated and alienated, as well as experience a dark, gloomy and heavy state of mind.

The effect of our food on our personal reality is reflected in the saying by Brillat-Savarin, “Tell me what you eat and I will tell you who you are.” Thankfully, science is slowly catching up with what conscious beings have always known. The link below is a video by Dr Bruce Lipton that relates how science has found the biochemical basis to how foods determine our reality.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtwTEHW8_8k

Mankind will eventually awaken to the fact that the forces that give life to our food and bodies are the very same energy that powers the sun and the entire Universe. We can take the opportunity to consciously align with and honour the Universal Plan unfolding every time we eat and drink.

THE PACE OF GRACE: How to maintain the flow

Very few people ever get the chance to totally step out of the life they were born into in order to gain a new perspective or approach to life. Most people live out the same lives as their parents and their grandparents. We are conditioned and programmed into accepting that rushing around in an un-integrated frenzy is normal. Most people habitually rush doing everyday things, and are forced to hurry in their jobs.

Most people live under some kind of pressure to perform or produce. It seems humanity has resigned itself to living a life of stress, incapable of drawing upon the wisdom of the ages. It appears blind to the cultures offering alternative perspectives and approaches. They are often condescendingly classified as primitive and deemed irrelevant to the modern world. Nothing could be further from the truth.

When I was living in the remote ashrams of India in 1991, I completely forgot about life in the West and quickly settled into the new daily routine. I had studied martial arts, yoga and tai chi and found the lifestyle perfect for integrating all the techniques and philosophies. I didn’t need to know what day of the week it was, or even the month of the year. Life was so relaxing and peaceful, and as I went deeper into myself, I connected with what I call, The Pace of Grace.

This is the element within the Universe that determines the speed or rate that something develops or unfolds in your reality. It is one of the Universal forces beyond everyone’s control. I have a saying, “It all unfolds in Divine Time and at the Pace of Grace.” You may work hard for something and have to wait many years for it to unfold in your life, then it may finally happen overnight. Conversely, you may have developed something over many years and lose it in an instant.

You have probably heard someone say, “I work well under pressure.” Many people pride themselves on having this ability, but it may only relate to a specific area of life. Their strength can be either inherent or acquired, but both require being graced with the internal and external resources to develop. Equally, we hear many sayings that reflect how a loss of integration effects our performance, like “The faster I go the more behind I get.”

People having the same experience may feel time passing in completely opposite ways. One person may feel time went exceedingly quickly while another may have felt it was excruciatingly slow. Essentially, we are not empowered unless we can unconditionally embrace the rate at which things come and go in our reality. This principle is central to the information and techniques I share.

It is essential to realise the basis of our stress is that we are trying to function at a level beyond our stage of neurological development and integration. We are forced to compensate and use momentum to maintain our performance - in the same way a hamster runs on a wheel. We tend to develop the habitual reactions, which gain momentum. Someone might say, “That sounds good, but I am a little busy right now, so I will consider it when I finish doing this.” We know that it never ends, so we never get to stop and think of alternative perspectives and approaches.

There are many techniques aimed at reducing the effects of stress in our modern lives. However, most don’t address the core problem - most people are habitually rushing and can’t stop. Therefore, everyone needs to be aware of The Pace of Grace. So exactly how do we do this?

This state can only be achieved through mindfulness of the breath. Our ability to remain consciously aware of the breath determines the level of our mental ability, to inwardly concentrate and outwardly focus our attention. We can only maintain our concentration and attention to the level of strength we have in the relative pathways. If we lack the strength, then we lose co-ordination and our level of performance deteriorates. This is very easy to observe in many physical activities, where the moment you start to fatigue, your ability to concentrate and co-ordinate is immediately effected.

The ability to remain mindful of the breath enables conscious and deliberate action. This means you will be able to maintain the flow in everything you do. Therefore, you will always perform at your best and continue improving your level of performance. Arts like tai chi and yoga focus on mastering the ability to remain internally still while externally being in motion. The intent is to maintain a pure expression of yourself even while living among the haste and chaos of the world.

Your ability to learn ANY activity depends on your ability to find your Pace of Grace. So it goes without saying that your ability to achieve your potential depends on your ability to remain at your Pace of Grace. Regardless of what activities you engage in - yoga, marital arts, athletics, gym, playing music, dancing, surfing, working in a factory, driving a car - your level of performance is directly determined by your awareness of breath.

Mastering The Pace of Grace means you can remain relaxed and alert, which ensures your reflexes and responses are the fastest and most accurate level possible. The best example of this is a martial arts master, who trains to remain aware of all slight sensations in the mind and body. They focus on remaining absolutely still, empty and silent internally, through awareness of the breath. They may explode with lightning speed in response to an external threat, then instantly return to being still, empty and silent.

You need to be mindful of the changes taking place within the body in order to remain at The Pace of Grace. When you are aware of your level of strength, you are able to ensure you perform to your capacity. You can gauge when you are nearing your peak, as well as adapt to internal and external changes. In this state, you automatically know when to rest or recover, and not let your impulses override your body’s needs. You can avoid over extending yourself and prevent the risk of accidents and injuries.

The instant you go too fast, or lose breath awareness, you become stressed. The yogis that taught me how to breath said, “There is no such thing as stress, just an inappropriate breathing pattern given the situation.” So we must know how to adjust your breathing in order to stay mindful. I cover this in detail in my eBook THE NATURE OF LIFE: How to remain at Peace while living in the modern world.

It is also important to note that The Pace of Grace relates not only to individuals, but collectives as well. You may notice the different rates of traffic flow on the roads and footpaths, depending on the time of day, day of the week or season. There are also many instances where a team has to perform at the same speed and intensity in order to succeed. But groups are made up of individuals, so it is important to remember that we can really only work effectively together at the pace of the slowest or weakest person.

Regardless of who you are and where you live, it is possible to quickly and easily develop an awareness of The Pace of Grace. By learning the correct breathing techniques and adopting a conscious awareness of all the Universal forces at work in your reality, you can remain relaxed and calm under all circumstances - and not just when you are chilling out with friends. This makes it possible for you to reach your potential and fulfil your purpose. You can then consciously share your experience with others and empower them to do the same.

THE CONDITIONS OF UNCONDITIONAL SHARING: The true foundation for all relationships

Despite all the wisdom of the ages, all the great beings who have lived before us, and all the knowledge we have gathered over centuries, we are no closer to living in Peace as a race than we were thousands of years ago. In fact, there seems to be an ongoing decline in humanity as we regress towards self-extinction. Many people are stuck in false realities because there are no clear rules or distinct guidelines that everyone can agree to live by.

We ultimately need to find a way to dissolve all conflict and confusion within and between us. The only way we can do this is to establish concrete guidelines by which we all agree to live and share. Our failure to do this as a race until now may not instil a lot of confidence that this is even possible - but, as always, the answer is very simple. The first and only Law worth sharing is: DO NO HARM. This essentially needs to go without saying. Beyond that, there are six basic ‘conditions’ we all must honour. I call them The Conditions of Unconditional Sharing. They mean that everything we share must be:

  • WHAT - accessible, attainable, and experiential to all involved

  • WHEN - present time or directly related to The Common Purpose or common history

  • WHERE - here now, with past evidence, or within the perceivable future

  • WHY - to establish a Truth that is unanimous to every single Being

  • WHO - relevant to all present and be unanimous to every single Being

  • HOW - according to all the above

These conditions do not in any way limit our reality, they only serve to clarify the terms by which we live and share with others. We are free to talk about anything and do everything together, providing there is a common understanding of the purpose and intent behind the conversation or activity. We can still freely share our theories and philosophies, interpretations and observations, thoughts and feelings, but with a mutual acceptance of exactly what is being shared.

The sharing of personal experiences and understandings may be relevant, but it is not appropriate or relevant to discuss other people’s experiences or understandings. The instant outside information is brought into a sharing, it dishonours all those present and does everyone a dis-service. The information you give and receive MUST be replicable, accessible, attainable, transferrable and experiential for every person on Earth. To remain true - and present - all sharing must directly empower everyone present, to maintain their growth and serve humanity. Ultimately, you must:

-        Speak only from your own direct experience
-        Share only what you are able to remain consciously aware of
-        Live according to all Divine and Natural Laws
-        Practice and create only what is unanimous to all present
-        Cultivate what is self-evident and indisputable to all Beings
-        Never lie or exaggerate
-        Never be idle and waste time
-        Never speak of another person
-        Never speak without being asked to

There is no honour outside The Conditions of Unconditional Sharing. If you do NOT have DIRECT experience dealing with the issues and people involved – you are simply NOT entitled to an opinion, and do NOT have the right to make a comment! Life is essentially a need to know basis. If you don’t need to know, it is simply not a factor in your reality. Therefore, there is absolutely no need for you to have an opinion about another person’s life. Doing so only reflects a fundamental weakness within your own reality.

The Conditions of Unconditional Sharing are in no way enforced by external factors, but automatically arise out of an awakening to the true nature of our reality. Therefore, an individual’s attitude and behaviour directly reflects their level of awakening. When you have awakened, you are free of all doubt, judgment and question, and all guilt, shame and blame. You are saturated with gratitude and full of compassion towards all beings.

However, most people are not capable of waking up. They are victims of propaganda and lies, which keep them stuck in the delusions and illusions of their existing paradigm. Those who have not awakened tend to live and act contrary to these conditions, engaging in all kinds of matters that don’t directly involve them.

To live and share our true potential, we must all learn to literally mind our own business. This way of living in the world does not come from a state of mind or belief. It stems from a deep and conscious state of being, where there is the ability to maintain a conscious response according to the true nature of life. Many people believe they understand this principle and feel they live with integrity, but very few actually have a true conscious awareness of this state.

Violating these conditions impacts our relationships more than any other area of our lives. Most relationships are in fact built on the ego, which appears in the absence of our ability to be a conscious being. This is primarily the result of the conditioning and programming we get from our religion and culture. Modern society prospers by fabricating the opposite to these conditions.

Most forms of media are full of issues and affairs that are in no way relevant to the viewer’s reality. Social media feeds people’s thirst for distraction, appetite for gossip and addiction to drama. The broadcaster’s bias creates and perpetuates prejudice through presenting an endless array of comparatives. This instils and propagates the ‘us versus them’ mentality, which reduces our experience to a competition in the fight to survive.

We are constantly persuaded to jump to conclusions, and judge people we have never met or likely to meet. Those with inflated egos are overcome by self-importance and self-righteousness. They mindlessly construct stories in their heads, building cases to use against those who fail to conform to their views. Malicious and malevolent behaviour like slander, demonising and character assassination is the most destructive element in a society, causing a great deal of the needless suffering. A common example of this is the ever-increasing amount of bullying and narcissistic behaviour.

If you want to determine how conscious you really are, imagine if you reviewed a print out of all your thoughts at the end of each day. If you are truly honest with yourself, you would soon realise the true nature and intent of your thoughts, which either drive or inspire your every word and deed.

When you honour The Conditions of Unconditional Sharing, you can potentially be the conscious being you were made to be. But be warned, taking that path in life will most likely attract the greatest amount of criticism and resistance. Therefore, you must walk tall with your sword drawn, so you can continue to grow and develop the required strength - and then genuinely share the journey towards our ultimate experience.

RECIPROCITY: The true power of giving and sharing

This blog covers a very interesting and powerful topic - our innate ability to give and share. I will show you the potential for change within any community that consciously and actively practices reciprocity. You will see just how quickly true change and growth can occur. Keep in mind that the closer to the Truth something is, the more instant it becomes.

I define the four levels of  exchange as: GIVE, RECEIVE, SHARE and RECIPROCATE. The following example using 6 people highlights the difference between these four levels. The best way to understand the power of this concept is to look at the mathematics of each exchange.

If we start with one person lacking something, the other 5 give the person what they need to be equal to them. This is what it really means to give and receive. Once they are equal, they can then begin to share what each of them has that is unique.

Each of the six people now has 5 items in common to share, plus 1 unique item. When we do the maths of this level, each person can make a total of 30 combinations between their 6 items (e.g. if we have items that are interchangeable like a:b, b:a, a:c, c:a etc.) - 20 of these they have in common with each of the others. Therefore each individual has the possibility to make ten items the others don’t have. There is a total of 180 combinations between the 6 people.

The next stage is each person reciprocates by sharing their unique item with the other 5. After the first round of reciprocating, they each have access to 5 new items - making a total of 11 each. The number of combinations now possible for each of them to create is 110, with a total of 660 between the 6 of them.

If we now introduce a second unique item that each one of them has, the total number of combinations between them after the second round of reciprocating is a massive 1440.

This shows you just how quickly things can change when only 6 people reciprocate. Consider the outcome when we all participate on an international scale. This is the key to healing ourselves and the world! One spiritual master I spent time with told me emphatically that no true change or growth is possible within humanity unless there is reciprocity. Therefore, until we see this being acted on consciously and deliberately, there will not be any real shift within our shared experience on Earth.

GRIEF, TERROR AND RAGE: Understanding The 3 Core Emotions

When you understand the nature of disease from a wholistic perspective, you can see how emotions are only like shadows on the wall of our minds. They arise according to the different factors that cause us to go out of balance. Ultimately, all dis-ease and emotions are the result of not being able to access and express the qualities of your true inner Self.

All negative emotional states stem from THE 3 CORE EMOTIONS:

1.     TERROR
2.     GRIEF
3.     RAGE

There are degrees to which the core emotions manifest, appearing as the related emotional states listed below.

GRIEF - sadness, despondent, unhappy, gloomy, miserable, dejected, disillusioned

TERROR - fearful, scared, worried, anxious, apprehensive, concerned, phobic, horrified, shocked, panicked, frightened, dread, alarmed, intrepid

RAGE - angry, furious, ferocity, vehement, wrathful, annoyed, irritated

The most common expressions of The 3 Core Emotions are sadness, anger, and fear or being scared. However, no emotion ever occurs by itself. Instead, they compound with the others and build into emotional complexes. Therefore, The 3 Core Emotions come together and manifest as THE 9 CORE EMOTIONAL COMPLEXES.

1.     Sad about being scared
2.     Sad about being angry
3.     Sad about being sad

4.     In fear of being scared
5.     In fear of being angry
6.     In fear of being sad

7.     Angry at being scared
8.     Angry at being angry
9.     Angry at being sad

It is important to note that a core emotion arises with every separation and division away from our natural state of being! Emotions are always directed at the perceived cause of the suffering. Each one may centre on a single issue in a person’s life, or surround multiple issues that affect a person’s entire reality. Here are some examples:

- a person who is angry at being angry about their low wages

- someone who is scared they will become depressed after becoming unemployed

These combinations may continue to compound into complicated emotional complexes. For example:

- A person is furious at their grief over having a broken heart, and scared they may never get over it. The fear and anxiety makes them withdraw socially, which causes an even greater depression.

Going deeper in the material I share, I explain how all dis-eases are caused by either an excess or  lack of something that is essential to attain and maintain balance. However, all dis-ease starts with an initial deficiency, or lack of wholeness and completeness. So to address emotions effectively, we mainly need to focus on what is missing to cause the state. When we know how to remove the excesses and restore the deficiencies, we can make emotions disappear in the same way light dispels darkness. As one master said to me. “You don’t have to open a door to let the darkness out, you just turn on the light.”

Grief is essentially seated in a feeling of loss or lack. When you invert that energy, the opposite to this is a sense of gratitude for what you do have. We simply need to saturate our minds with all the things that we have to be grateful for in life, and the grief will go.

Anger is the same. I have a saying. “Anger is laughter turned inside out”. This is why the people with the biggest tempers are those with the best sense of humour. Laughter is actually our essence of bliss coming through. We just  need to stop taking everything so personally and seriously, and learn to see the funny side of everything. This is why we say that you know when someone is free of an issue when they can laugh about it.

Fear always appears with its counterpart - desire. Fear and desire are limited to a dualistic reality, and are inseparable from each other. For every fear there is a desire for the opposite result, and for every desire there is fear of not satisfying that desire. Fear is based on doubt, judgment and question, which stem from your core beliefs. The beliefs are not centred in a conscious connection to the natural laws , which create and sustain all life and the Universe. The opposite to fear is the sense of honour, which comes from being able to align and connect with these laws, and feel the divine grace unfolding in and through everything.

It is empowering to know that regardless of the emotional state, we can quickly and effortlessly shift our reality. We simply need to find creative ways of restoring a connection with nature and our creativity. We can all do this by learning to honour ourselves and each other in a way that is free of compromise, contradiction and denial of the natural laws.

Why ask? The 12 intentions behind asking questions

People’s core intentions stem from who they identify themselves to be, and they communicate according to who they perceive others to be. For example: It is not uncommon to see military people conducting themselves in a military way in their personal relationships and social situations. How people ask questions may reflect the intentions or purpose by which they live their entire life - they either hold mainstream beliefs or are alternative thinkers.

If you question someone’s intentions, they often react defensively because their identity and character is being scrutinised. Some may argue their real intent if challenged, but it is usually made pretty obvious by a person’s tone, mannerisms and choice of words. We can easily read between the lines and determine if a person is genuinely open, has your wellbeing in mind, or, is trying to undermine you in anyway.

Most people know the feeling when someone asks a question and they have obviously already jumped to a conclusion. No matter what you say, you aren’t going to change their mind. It can be impossible to prove your innocence or have your point of view be heard.

In my line of work, where practically everything I think, do or say goes against the grain, I have a lot of people ask me questions. Over the years I started noting what I thought people’s intentions were, and how they were expressed through their questioning. I have defined what are essentially the 12 reasons why someone would ask a question. The intent may be one or more of the following:

These intentions are equally relevant to everything we think, do and say - I just find it fun relating them to questions.

It is important to realise that those with a ‘negative’ intent are never aware of their true intentions! They are not aware of the difference between a reaction and a conscious response. Their questions only arise from their existing level of understanding and awareness. Therefore, they only care about voicing their opinions and how they feel. They often project their state onto you and remain blind to all other perspectives and approaches.

The intentions behind asking questions has been the topic of many hilarious conversations, so I thought it would be good to share it at the start of the week - for you to have fun applying it in your interactions. I haven’t finished developing this part of the material yet, but I thought you might have some fun with it in the meantime.

...so what do you think? :)

THE BECKONING: Your destiny is calling

BECKONING.png

To fully appreciate the power of intuition, we have to take a closer look at the real dynamics at work within them. Before you can consciously stay aligned and connected with your intuition, you need to be able to answer one essential question.

Do you feel or believe that it is inevitable that your Soul will merge back with the Source?

Or to put it another way, will The Spirit giving you life eventually return to where it came from?

Your potential to draw upon the guidance of intuition depends on how you answer this direct question. This material is here to remind you of what you innately know on the deepest level of your being, that returning to your natural state is inevitable! Fulfilling your potential is inevitable! And fulfilling your purpose is inevitable!

This blog is affirming to you right now, EVERYTHING IS INEVITABLE! - even if you don’t believe it, whether you accept it or not, regardless if you feel it or not, irrespective of what you think is possible, despite everything you think could stop you, no matter what interference or influences you face along the way - EVERYTHING IS INEVITABLE!

Your Soul’s evolution and journey through Life will eventually lead to your ultimate fulfilment! This will come having achieved your true potential and having fulfilled your unique purpose. If you don’t yet feel the inevitability, don’t worry. That feeling will definitely come once you have learned and practiced the techniques I share. In the meantime, I encourage you to follow your Heart as best you can, and focus only on the thoughts and feelings that promote a sense of gratitude for the gift of Life within you.

When you do feel it is inevitable, you can be guided every single step along the way towards the inevitable outcome. Your future and higher Self have everything under control and are beaming back all the love and guidance you could ever wish for. They are like loving and supportive parents at the finish line of a foot race, enthusiastically cheering on their child. This is why I call it THE BECKONING. They are beckoning you on, encouraging you to devote yourself to doing everything you need to do to fulfil your inevitable potential and purpose.

You need to be able to look upon yourself with absolute compassion and honour, and answer the calling. As the journey unfolds towards your destiny, you will be able to direct your energies back to your past self, with the same sweetness you have towards a child.

Intuitions are the source of motivation that drives sports people on to success. People often say in their victory speech that they have been visualising that moment for years, and it has now come true. The experience they had was always going to be a part of their destiny. Their level of commitment to achieving success stemmed from this inner knowing. The intensity of the feelings that came with their victory made the event inevitable.

Many people have asked me, “How do I know what I should commit myself to?” Simply ask yourself “Do I feel it is inevitable?” If not, then chances are it is a compensatory interest or not the highest possible path available at present. I have a saying, “If in doubt, stay out!” Therefore, if you are confused about something or have to think about it too much, then it is probably not part of your destiny.

There is another important factor that needs to be brought to your attention. If you truly surrender, and transcend the belief in freewill, and realise and accept that everything is inevitable - then everything between now and then MUST BE EFFORTLESS. If everything we are doing is returning to our natural state, and everything coming to you through intuition is according to the Divine, then it should all be effortless and automatic.

A master once emphatically told me, “Your effort is to maintain the effortlessness!” The true meaning of effortless does not mean a lesser degree of effort, it means no effort at all! It reflects a constant connection to your inner guidance, prompting you to live the highest truth in each and every moment. You don’t even need to stop and think about anything. Everything you need will come to you while you remain in what I call, a state of Grace. You are full of Peace and joy as you are drawn into your destiny. You trust the universe will fulfil all your needs, as you follow your heart, immersed in everything you truly love.

You have the opportunity to embrace the natural path of least resistance. Every breath and heartbeat you are given is an affirmation that you are here to fulfil a purpose. This is made easier knowing that you will ALWAYS be directly guided and protected by your future Self. It is guaranteed and inevitable that you will reach your potential and fulfil your destiny. Therefore, in the simultaneousness of time, your future Self is living that now, and is sending you the intuitions on exactly how to get there. You may as well learn to stay online and make your journey effortless.

The material I share is designed to direct your attention to the part of you that is connected to the Truth within. This is the Truth that is not just true for you, but for every one of us! The magnitude of the potential opportunity life offers each and every one of us is beyond your imagination. So make a promise to yourself, on the deepest level of your Being, to honour this process and make it part of your life. In the same way you send all the information back to yourself each night on going to sleep, know that your future and higher Self are sending you everything you need to succeed at every point along the way.

When you send intuitions back to yourself, you can honour the fact that every thought you ever had has brought you a step closer to this point of realising the Truth. Every memory of stress or trauma you have can be transmuted into a pivotal point of trusting your inner knowing, which you are NOW affirming to yourself. Your life will continue to flow effortlessly, and your guidance will get stronger and clearer, as your move ever closer to the inevitable.

Intuitions are a natural function of The Higher Mind. They utilise that part of our Mind so it fulfils its intended role in our daily life. The intuitive process ‘evolved’ naturally to create cognitive ease, so we can be intuitive in everyday situations. They effectively minimise our need to ‘think’, in line with the natural path of least resistance. Why ‘think’ harder than you have to?

Once you are aware of the nature and dynamics of the intuitive process, it becomes a way of instantly determining whether or not you are on your true path. This reinforces the fact that any trace of cognitive strain means you are not in the Flow. It also makes choosing your company very simple: Others either share the journey and support you on your path, or they don’t. The world will tempt you into doubting this way of being, as obstacles and resistance will occur, but you will always be able to navigate your way around such things gracefully.

The dualistic experience that mirrors gratitude is the state of thankfulness on The Lower Mind Level. The partiality of the ego finds reason to be full of thanks for all the bad things that it does not have to contend with in life. A typical expression is, “Thank God I don’t have that in my Life”. This is a double negative state - which does not make a positive - and it does not imply that you have any gratitude for everything you do have.

Maintaining the flow in your intuitions through the sense of Gratitude is only half of the picture. The other half is being able to see the same inevitable Truth unfolding in everyone person's life as well. This is the basis of your Inspirations.

THE TRUE MEANING OF WEALTH: When money doesn't matter

To most people, the word wealth involves money. I am not going to spend much time talking about money in this blog as it actually isn’t relevant to true wealth. If you don’t already know the true nature and origins of how and why money was created, it’s a good idea to watch some documentaries on the topic. “I Want The Earth Plus 5%” by Larry Hannigan is a good brief one, and “The Money Masters: The rise of the bankers” by Bill Still is a long one providing the full story.

To really address all the world’s wealth issues, we really need to bypass money altogether. There are people who have put forward brilliant alternative systems to money. The best material available on the topic that I know of is by Colin Turner, founder of The Free World Charter. I will leave it to Colin to fill you in on all the opportunities that await us, if we are smart enough to abandon the current system.

So instead of talking about money, I’d like to share a perspective on wealth you may never have thought of. We have all probably been exposed to the New Age buzz around abundance and prosperity. The main source of hype on this topic came from the documentary The Secret. I usually refrain from sharing personal views and experiences, but I think it is appropriate to share this one story.

The masters I spent time with in India and elsewhere were absolutely ‘furious’ at the damage that documentary did to the psyche of mankind. When I asked them about it, they bluntly told me that it only contained 3% Truth. One New Ager dismissed this and said, “Oh, well, at least it had some truth in it so it must have done some good.” Well, no. It doesn’t work that way. When something is 97% false, it is obviously going to be the dominant force within its effect, so the result will always have a negative impact.

The truth around money and wealth has been revealed in countless quotes of brilliant people.  Gandhi’s quote perhaps captures it the best, “There is enough for every man’s need; not every man’s greed”. I have a saying I share in jest, ”I don’t think the Buddha taught wealth creation seminars on his way to enlightenment.” It is obvious the pursuit of money and material security no longer serves humanity. So before we continue towards a mutual point of understanding, we need to put aside all current beliefs around money and abundance.

I would like to start by sharing my definitions of the words - ABUNDANCE, PROSPERITY and SURPLUS - and perhaps look at them from a more spiritually empowered perspective:

ABUNDANCE - having everything required to maintain the standard of living and state of being necessary to meet all your needs

PROSPERITY - having everything you need to maintain growth on all levels of your being in order to find and fulfil your potential

SURPLUS - having everything you need to maintain your potential in order to find and fulfil your unique purpose, which is to share everything you have with everyone around you - so they can be abundant and prosperous, and fulfil their purpose.

These three words indicate a spiritual evolution within individuals, and their community. I have had rich and renowned people be awestruck by these definitions. They are finally able understand why all their material and financial affluence has left them feeling unfulfilled.

By living according to all natural laws, an individual is able to produce more than they need. Surplus represents an overflowing of natural wealth, where it pours over from the individual into their community.

A community can also function at each of these levels. When a community experiences surplus, it means they are able to serve other communities. Therefore, true wealth can only really be experienced once everyone has a surplus. I love the quote by Cardinal Roger Mahony, "Any society, any nation, is judged on the basis of how it treats its weakest members - the last, the least, the littlest." If  the conscious sharing and reciprocity does not become our sole focus, then we are doomed to continue the rapid decline of our species.

To make it clear, surplus is the result of the efficient use of resources. This then enables us to become even more efficient to the point where we continue to produce more from less. Buckminster Fuller used the word ‘ephemeralisation’ to describe this reality. Peter Joseph from The Zeitgeist Movement, and the late Jacque Fresco from The Venus Project, have done a lot to bring this concept to the public’s attention.

Again, the truth is always pure and simple. We all just need to accept this to be the case, and return to the basics human values. If we have the courage to take on the challenge, we can turn the visions the greatest minds have held for humanity into a reality.

WHY DO PEOPLE HATE PEOPLE? The answer is simpler than you might think

After countless deep and meaningful conversations, with people from all walks of life, all around the world, I was left wondering, “Why do people hate people so much?

Despite all the years of study and research, I couldn’t answer this question in a way that fully satisfied my Heart. The nutty professor inside of me likes to have an answer for everything. He wants to understand life from every possible angle - and until recently, the underlying cause of this problem remained a mystery.

I realise addressing the deepest and darkest side of our humanity is a full on topic, but I don’t actually see anyone else presenting a plausible answer to this situation. So I feel it is time to take a brutally honest look at humanity’s dark side, and determine exactly what is going on and how to fix it. Sound ambitious? Maybe…. But what is more important in times like these? It is a big topic, so it looks like it might be a long post.

The thing about humanity is: We are all the same. This can be a good thing and a bad thing, but at least it makes finding the answers to our problems very simple. As a practitioner, I have treated people with practically every dis-ease and problem known to man. During consultations, it didn’t take long for people to realise I genuinely cared, and almost immediately would open up, and literally tell me everything. There is almost nothing I haven’t seen or heard in the last 30+ years.

Everywhere I went around the world, I shared with people who were getting by in life. However, I didn’t have to scratch very deep to find out that most were living some degree of an existential crisis. The only difference was that some people could hide it better than others. The vast majority of people were openly full of pain, confusion and exhaustion.

Beneath all the masks and hats people wear, there is a person who just wants to get the hell out of their situation. Their motives may differ, but they nearly all lack Peace and doubt their ability to keep going. Some people struggle to make life better for themselves; others for their family; others for the world. Some can function within the system, while others fail miserably and seek alternatives.

The vast majority of people are seeking alternatives. They simply want out. Most are bored out of their brains, and can’t cope being shackled to a controlled and regulated society. The suppression is unbearable, and they are no longer prepared to prop up an artificial world. It has become an unacceptable burden to have their tax money kill and destroy another culture. The abhorrent destruction of the planet and animal species breaks their hearts. They don’t want to support the slave labour in prisons and sweat shops. Everyone tells me that given the chance, they would go and live a self-sustaining life in a cabin in the woods.

This is why so many people escape to nature every chance they get. Their holidays usually involve getting away from it all. And the more isolated and remote the better. Those that are fortunate enough to make the escape permanent speak with a deep conviction. They don’t want to be reminded of the outside world, and are happy to forget it exists.

However, most people are trapped and can’t escape. They are a slave to the system. At best they may go on a short vacation or a 10 day retreat, but nothing that comes close to providing the required healing. Even though they lost heart years ago, they keep dreaming that one day their luck may change, and they will have the freedom to spread their wings and never look back.

So, how bad are things when most people just want to flee their lives? The environments that are supposed to be supporting them are driving them crazy. Most people just wish they could stop the world and get off. They are sick and tired of the suicide bombers, the police brutality and killings, the crime, the terror, the homelessness, the drugs, fake news, narcissistic celebrities, the beheadings, the false flag operations, the disease and medication rates, etc. - pretty much everything in society.

It is obvious that society is being driven by the insane, war-mongering, Illuminati controlled governments. These psychopaths are backed by the blatant fear tactics of the corporate media. This is reinforced by a subliminal assault inflicted by the satanic cults running the music and entertainment industry. And it is all kept in motion by rigged elections for smug politicians, who lie directly to our face. They are protected by the paedophiles among the elite and religious - the very people who should be making a difference.

We have probably all witnessed or been the victim of someone who was on an egotistical power trip. There are people who are just plain nasty and act like absolute arseholes towards others. They vent on social media, which has become a playground for the haters. But when you put all judgment and opinions aside, you will see that these people are the ones who are suffering the most. They just take their frustrations out on others. Exposure to this behaviour effects the mental health of many people, who eventually cannot contain their frustration and hit boiling point.

People who have reached this point demonstrate a contempt for life, others or themselves. You only need to look at how many people display self-destructive habits and behaviour. They appear as socially accepted ways of suicide: smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, eating junk food etc - all of which are known to kill people. Everyone knows the only reason they are allowed to keep existing is because someone is profiteering off the ways people distract themselves away from their inherent pain.

This is why many people are completely over dealing with other people’s attitude and behaviour. They are tired of being bombarded by the stupidity of the sheeple. They feel like screaming, “For God’s sake people, just wake the fuck up!”. Even if they do blow their lid and scream “ENOUGH!”, it doesn’t change anything. They usually go deeper into suppression, until the next time around the world drives them completely bonkers. Any wonder suicide rates are going up.

When I reached that point in life, I was fortunate enough to have a spiritual master take me aside. He said very emphatically, “I want you to understand just one thing Brian. There are no longer just irrationalities in the world. There are only varying degrees of insanity! So STOP expecting people to change their attitude and behaviour.” This cleared the way for me to focus all my energies on going within, which carries over into everything I share today.

Anyone who dares to break the mould is definitely going to be made an example of. Let’s find a good example - I know, let’s use the story of Jesus. Now this guy, he was supposed to be as good as you can possibly get. He was perfect - right up to end, then he cried out in pain and questioned God his father. But he quickly woke up to himself and totally surrendered, so it was all good. But we probably need to remember why was he nailed to a bloody cross in the first place. Ummm….Oh that’s right, because one of his closest friends betrayed him for money and got him arrested. Plus, his best friend denied ever knowing him - not just once, but three times - AND, his remaining friends abandoned him when all the people he was trying to serve turned on him. They even chose to free a criminal over him, and then protested until he was condemned to a slow grisly death.

I am by no means anti-Christian, it is just that the bible contains some of the best examples of humanity’s dark side. Which is why the story of Jesus was not created to teach us how to have compassion and forgiveness for those who harm us, or how to have unwavering trust in our Creator. If it was, then every Christian would be living a charitable life and be completely at Peace, having followed his example of how to forgive - and surrender even when being tortured to death.

No, his story wasn’t a message - it was a warning!
Be a good citizen and follow all the rules, but don’t be too good - otherwise, we’ll make
all your friends turn on you, and we may have to kill you.

This sinister message is a deterrent, which sets a precedence in the hearts and minds of every Christian. What chance have they got to make a difference if this is what happened to a guy pure and powerful enough to perform miracles? The story is suggesting the pits of hell await anyone prepared to stick their neck out or cross the invisible boundaries.

So at the end of the day, no one ever really does anything to change - the consequences are just too great. Besides, despite the wisdom of the ages, no one seems to have a clue on where we are missing the point, or even knows where to begin fixing this rotten mess. Most people are stuck in their roles, trying to validate their existence and keep the current paradigm going. If it isn’t part of their job description, then they will happily leave it for someone else to sort out. The only problem is, we are all in this together - and the only way we will ever get through this is if we all pull our heads in and work together.

However, unless we know exactly how to pull the plug on this cesspool of a society, we will never be able to stop and face the reality of our situation. Until we can look ourselves, and each other, in the eye and say, with absolute conviction and honesty, “I‘ve got you. I am with you on this!”, then we can ditch all the empty platitudes and warm and fuzzy clichés. We have to do whatever it takes to get on the same page so we can start anew. So what’s the answer?

The answer to this whole situation came to me at the end of ‘one of those days’. I had spent the day dealing with the extremes of ignorance, arrogance, stupidity and insanity. A night walk to the beach was needed to give me the inner space to make sense of my day. I thought about it deeply, and realised I needed to go back to the very beginning within my own experience. So I did.

As I walked and talked with my friend, I relived the earliest and most painful memories lurking in the crevasses of my mind. I dug deeper into them than ever before. Then the answer hit me. What was at their core is what makes people hate people.

The answer is:
Because we are killing each other!
- not directly, but indirectly, by killing each other’s CREATIVITY.

So could all the world’s problems be simply due to the suppression of the creative genius within each of us?

My answer is, YES! - absolutely.

If you look deep enough, you will see that all the deep-seated emotions plaguing us are the direct result of being denied the opportunity for our pure spontaneous creative expression. We are destroying each other’s opportunity to find and stay in the FLOW. We deny Love and withdraw support. We inflict pain, and react with vengeance. This is because we are all suffering the very same thing. We are literally doing each other’s heads in. We hear it in flustered exclamations like, “OMG! This is killing me!” We are left 'hating' whatever or whoever we believe is responsible for the pain and frustration.

When you look at people who have an emotional or mental breakdown, you can see how they regress back to their child self. They go back to the age they were denied the chance to develop and grow through play and creativity. This default state is the point where they stopped developing the pathways that enable them to be who they are meant to be. When we are denied the opportunity to experience or express our creativity, our energies simply turn destructive. This is the real root of much of the violence and destruction in our world.

I facilitate a neurological remediation program - for people with ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, autism etc. The most remarkable thing people and parents repeatedly told me was: “When they are doing something they love, they don’t have a problem.” Their symptoms would literally disappear. The best example of this is in the documentary ‘Horse Boy’, when a nonverbal boy speaks for the first time having climbed onto a horse.

My theory: A lack of creativity is at the root of all our social problems. To return to how we are truly meant to be, we just need to have fun doing what we truly love, and share it with as many people as possible. To make this a reality, we only need to honour a single Natural Law - DO NO HARM. If everyone just minded their own business, and left each other alone to do what they wanted, then we might all just find the Peace and Love we need.

THE 3 KEYS TO TRUE KNOWLEDGE: Apply, Practice and Cultivate

There is a great saying, “To know and not do, is to NOT Know.” It means that we only truly know something from having done it. It is ironic that we live in a world that offers us an infinite number of experiences and endless amounts of information, but there is a core attitude and behaviour in humanity that undermines our potential to make the most of what we have available.

I have spoken with thousands of people all around the world in varying capacities, and almost without exception, people have admitted to me that they are not living an empowered life. If most people were honest and open, they would confess to failing to practice what they know. There are two main admissions I have had heard:

1.     “I know I shouldn’t be doing what I am doing, but I can’t help myself”, or “….I just can’t stop doing it.”
2.     “I know what I should be doing but never get around to doing it”, or “…I just can’t bring myself to do it”

This state often leaves people wondering “What the hell is wrong with me?” There is often a degree of self-recrimination where people judge themselves for their ineptness, and their inability to 'get their shit together'. They look at the apparent success of others and think, “How come other people can do this and I can’t?” They beat themselves up over their shortcomings and failures, often resulting in despair and even self-destructive behaviour. Clearly, none of this is conducive to real change.

So where are we missing the point? How is it that even the most renowned and successful people have admitted to me that they suffer from this attitude and behaviour - even when health and personal development is their field of expertise? How do we deal with the objections and excuses - the “Yes, I know that, but…” scenarios? Until we can root out the basis of this attitude and behaviour, then there is no real foundation for individual or collective change.

To understand where we are missing the point we need to understand that developing knowledge and learning involves developing pathways within the cerebellum of the brain. For this be effective, the required tasks MUST be done in a smooth, controlled and deliberate manner. This means we can only truly come to Know something from the direct experience deliberate action gives us. If this is not done, the brain is forced to adapt, and it develops compensatory pathways. This causes unconscious habits to form instead.

When you observe humanity today, most people are living according to their habits. We are not encouraged to think or live outside the square. When you add stress to habits, we are forced to compensate. These compensations gain momentum and prevent people from being able to stop and think. This state of being makes changing habits practically impossible. This is essentially the reason why people cannot change their core attitudes and behaviours, and often not open to correction.

Most people are in ‘the pursuit of happiness’. Their hot pursuit is like a boy chasing a ball out onto a road. The child is so focused on the ball he doesn’t hear the onlookers scream out stop! For most people, the screams to stop are coming from within, but they are overridden in an effort to survive or get ahead. Being so caught up in the pace of life, they may react to a simple reminder of what they "already know".

All of this behaviour is the result of the survival reflexes in our brain being jammed on. Therefore, the precursor to being able to apply new or existing knowledge is to be in the right state of mind. In my line of work, I commonly hear phrases like, “I have never stopped to think about that before”, and “WOW, I have never seen it from that perspective before.” Therefore, we must have the resources, guidance and support that we require to make change possible. If the dominant force in our lives is not what we need to nurture and nourish the development of new pathways, then old habits will prevail.

But there is Light amidst the darkness. We need to focus on what I call THE 3 KEYS OF TRUE KNOWLEDGE:

1. APPLICATION - The deliberate application of everything you already know is the key to true change
2. PRACTICE - The practice of everything you are coming to know is the key to growth
3. CULTIVATION - The cultivation of everything you are yet to know is the key to transformation

So what exactly is it that we need to do in order to develop true Knowledge? Most people agree that life by nature is very simple, so anything that complicates it is possibly serving an agenda that perhaps isn’t your own, or of the egoic self. The primary things we need to apply, practice and cultivate are anything and everything that enables us to develop and maintain our health, fitness and wellbeing.

Once you transcend your conditioning and programming, you will connect with your inner creative genius. This will naturally fill you with inspiration to find and fulfil your creative potential. To spell that out clearly, you just need to find the most fun and interesting things to do. You won’t need any discipline or sergeant majors screaming at you to stay motivated. In short, the meaning of life is to have fun, and the purpose of life is to share it with as many people as possible. Anyone who thinks that sounds too simple or broad of an answer is probably lacking true Knowledge.

CHANGE, GROWTH AND TRANSFORMATION: The Three Phases of Evolution

I am currently developing some of the content for my up and coming eBook, which follows on from my first book - THE CONSCIOUS BEING: A Practical Guide to The Nature of Life. I thought I would give you a glimpse of some of the juicy topics that I will be covering in the book.

I will be sharing all the factors that determine our ability to consciously heal and live true to our purpose. One of the foundational topics I cover is THE THREE PHASES OF EVOLUTION - Change, Growth and Transformation. These are the distinct phases each individual goes through as they evolve from The Dualistic State to The Conscious State. They describe the rectifications required to reach the ultimate experience. I define each of these phases below:

1. CHANGE - All change takes place within duality. The different experiences are motivated by either suffering or inspiration.

2. GROWTH - Growth is the outcome of an ongoing change that is fueled by a positive synergy within the required aspects and facets of life - on an individual or collective level. Growth leads to a shift from False Awareness to True Awareness.

3. TRANSFORMATION - Transformation is a new kind of action and expression due to the change in form, appearance, state or character that comes with a conscious shift into our true Divine Nature.

The definition of Change is: to make the form, content, future course, etc. of something different from what it is, or from what it would be if left alone. True Change is a Transition from the Negative or False Positive to the True Positive. This change can be motivated through suffering the consequences of negative influences, or the inspiration from positive influences.

The definition of Growth is: development from a simpler or related form to a more complex form or stage. The conscious application of synergy is the key to Growth, which leads to an Awakening to the Laws, Dynamics and Processes within Life. Applying synergy involves the appropriate forms of stimulation and nourishment relative to each stage of development and phase of healing. The synergy must be applied in the manner required for each individual, which enables a shift towards the natural state of wholeness and completeness, and an increase in their potential.

Growth creates a state of Grace where you experience synchronicity and serendipity unfolding in your life. However, it is essential to realise that true growth will ALWAYS take you beyond the current frames of reference you have for reality! In other words, growth will put you on the leading edge of consciousness expanding into the unknown. There is an overall increase in The Level of Sensitivity (see earlier blog).

This phase can be unsettling when the shift is sudden or there is a lack in the required support or resources. I call it ‘Perfect Suffering’, as it forces people into a state of absolute humility and compassion. The discomfort lasts until they are able to remain anchored in the new Truth that is revealed to them. They can then experience and express a higher level of knowledge and level of dedication.

We can break down the word Transformation to extract its true meaning:

- Trans-form-ation: ‘trans’ = new; ‘form’ = kind; ‘ation’ = action/expression

Therefore it means a new kind of action and expression. It is also the change in form, appearance, state or character that comes with a conscious shift into The Divine Nature - with little or no resemblance with the past configuration or structure. It typically results in a drastic reorientation, leading to a totally new direction, along with an entirely different level of perception. Therefore, all transformations reflect an expansion within conscious awareness. This reflects in a radical change in approach, which leads to a complete upsurge in the level of productivity and efficiency.

Transformation is the outcome of conscious evolution and the Transcendence of individuality, providing access to Purpose. The phase of transformation brings you fully into each moment - to BE HERE NOW. There is no residue of the past bleeding into the present, and the present doesn’t overflow into the future. You remain on the leading edge of conscious, but this time you are expanding into the unknowable. Therefore, nothing you already know and understand is relevant to where you are going.

Many types of Transformation exist in nature and the world around us - political regime changes, chemical reactions, changes of seasons and mathematical equations to name a few. However, the best example is the caterpillar turning into a butterfly. This is often used as a metaphor for personal transformation, indicating that you live your life and work hard to survive, then undergo a process that you have no control over or any understanding of what is on the other side.

Very few people ever experience true change, let alone grown or transformed, therefore you cannot expect those around you to understand what you are going through. You will more than likely experience periods of enormous alienation and isolation. All you can do is remain instrumental in The Conscious State and respond to whatever unfolds in each moment.

SENSITIVITY: Our capacity to Love and share bliss

We all have an innate Knowing within us. Most of us never realise it’s there, because it is usually buried so deep under our conditioning, programming and acquired knowledge. We have lost our sensitivity due to never having had the chance to live in harmony with Nature, in order to activate our inner knowing.

Most people in today’s fast paced society have become so desensitised to ‘stress’ that they accept it as normal. However, many have had the pain in their lives cross the thresh-hold, or have hit breaking point and been forced to stop. Though they often get lost when seeking an alternative in a world that has become deaf and blind to nature.

There is a high level of cognitive dissonance, where nearly everyone claims to be seeking the fulfilment of their dreams, their ideal or ultimate reality, but do the complete opposite in their lives. Many proclaim to be seeking Heaven on Earth, but proceed to watch mindless TV shows or incredibly violent and gory movies. Many listen to music that is literally maddening. We have gone from being a child that cries when Lassie doesn’t come home, to growing up and cheering when someone gets their head blown off!

If we look to the animal kingdom we can see how cats and dogs innately know what grasses to eat when they are sick. They go along smelling the grass until they find the right one then they eat it. Many people watch the incredible animal documentaries and marvel at the amazing abilities creatures have, due to the sensitivity of their perceptions. They are disturbed by man’s involvement in the extinction of species, and protest over threats to their habitats.

However, very few recognise the true sensitivities of our own human nature. Most of us fail to realise how the discrepancies in our lives are impacting on our health, wellbeing, and environment. Our potential is beyond everything we have been taught and told. Imagine if we were all living Heaven on Earth and there were only two sick people. What are we all going to do? Ignore them? Of course not! We would be sensitive to their needs and do everything possible to enable them to share the same state and reality we were enjoying.

In today’s world we have become so desensitised that we easily step over beggars in the streets, walk past the homeless; and even support the annihilation of another country to ensure our own oil supply. Living such a compromised, contradictory and ignorant life will always result in dis-ease. We cannot pretend we don’t feel the pain in others. Millions of people around the world medicate themselves to numb this pain, or take drugs to escape the torment of their souls. They smoke cigarettes to put up a smoke screen, so they don’t see their own lack of fulfilment, and to temporarily satisfy their urge to do something ‘pleasurable’.

Generally speaking, there are 6 Levels of Sensitivity. They are listed below from the lowest to highest with a brief example:

1. INSENSITIVE - a person taking a life or killing creatures
2. HYPERSENSITIVE - a person having an anaphylactic reaction to a food ingredient
3. DESENSITISED - a painter unable to smell the toxic fumes of paint
4. HYPOSENSITIVE - a person used to rushing all day in their job
5. SENSITIVE - a person crying while watching a movie
6. SUPERSENSITIVE - being beyond duality, therefore the influence of the external

Unfortunately, The New Age agenda has caused a great number of people to believe they are special because they are so ‘sensitive’. However, when you realise the nature of our true supersensitive state, it presents a whole new paradigm. The supersensitive state means we are able to sense and feel EVERYTHING - but we are not influenced by anything outside of ourselves. We are free of all the reactivity that comes with the lower levels.

There is a wonderful saying that is central to the martial arts philosophy, “You are only influenced by the world in proportion to your desire to influence the world.” We are not here to change, influence, control or manipulate anything. We are here to simply be and share all that we are, and celebrate all that is. This saying supports our need to mind our own business and take things as they come to us.

The key to increasing our sensitivity is to return to a pure and simple natural life. The more truly sensitive we are, the more we can genuinely Love ourselves and each other. Our energies will expand so that we can have more fun together - and experience the true bliss offered to each and every one of us.

CONVICTION, COMMITMENT OR DEVOTION: What is your level of dedication?

DEDICATION.png

Today’s post is another excerpt from my eBook THE NATURE OF LIFE: How to remain at Peace while living in the modern world. It happens to be from page 432, so it may resonate with you. :)

When we maintain a pure and simple lifestyle, we will naturally develop a deep sense of dedication to everything in our lives. There are 3 Levels of Dedication towards our Life Path or any other task.

1. CONVICTION - Conviction is the Knowing that there is only one true path you can take on your Soul’s journey. The point of conviction can come about as the result of suffering or inspiration.

2. COMMITMENT - True commitment is the Knowing that once you start on your Path, there is never any turning back! This Level of Dedication can only be reached through Inspiration.

3. DEVOTION - The true meaning of Devotion is that you are prepared to do whatever it takes to fulfil a task or your Purpose. This Level of Dedication can only be reached through Inspiration.

To develop true dedication, we must first be convinced of what to do. This comes from being able to determine the negative consequences or positive rewards. Once we gain clarity as to which way things will turn out, we can then commit ourselves to doing what is required. If we feel sufficiently strong about our mission, we will fully devote ourselves to the task to the exclusion of all other seemingly less important tasks.

Today, the use of these three words is all too frequent. They are usually in the context of a person’s level of motivation towards their goals or duties. However, very few people appreciate the real power these words possess when used in a spiritual context. We can use these words to symbolise The Level of Dedication a person has towards their growth on their true path in life. The confusion we see around the use of these words warrants a deeper investigation, so we can use them more deliberately.

The word dedication means that a person is able to focus fully on a single task, usually with an element of effort or sacrifice. The degree of effort or sacrifice an individual is prepared to undergo indicates the level of dedication. The willingness to exert effort and make sacrifices is directly in proportion to the importance the person places on the task in relation to maintaining or evolving within their state of being.

When we distinguish the three levels, we find that each level is its own distinct reality. In a spiritual context, conviction, commitment and devotion are Divine Qualities. As with all Divine Qualities, there are no degrees of conviction, commitment and devotion. Either you are convinced, committed or devoted, or you are not! - it is all or nothing!

All willingness to change comes from either suffering or Inspiration. Suffering will only ever convince you what isn’t working, never has worked, and never will work in the world. However, Inspiration enables you to see what is working, has always worked, and will always work. You can achieve the level of conviction through either suffering or inspiration. However, you can only reach the level of commitment and devotion through inspiration, because without an awareness of the Divine Laws, Dynamics and Processes at work, there can be no true insight into the real nature of life.

The Levels of Dedication relate to every aspect of being and facet of your life. They also determine our ability to start or finish something. The Buddha explained: “There are two mistakes one can make along the road to Truth: Not going all the way…. and not starting.”

It is only natural that the more imbalances you have in your life, the harder it will be for you to discriminate the Truth and dedicate yourself to your path. When imbalances are the dominant force in your reality, you will be indecisive and procrastinate.

It takes courage to change and follow your convictions. It takes even greater courage to follow your commitments. However, being committed is not the biggest challenge you may face. One of the hardest things you may experience is that, despite your best efforts, what you committed yourself to doesn’t actually work out. This may be in relation to your job, relationships or health and fitness. Sometimes, you just have to accept that what you wanted or needed just aren’t meant to be.

The level of courage required to experience true devotion is rarely experienced. Devotion is the natural outcome of growth on all levels of your being. This experience can be extremely painful, because it requires you to undergo a complete transformation. It is the worst kind of existential crisis, because all your reference points of what you thought was true and real will be stripped away. For a period of time, you will feel completely lost and confused. Very few people have developed devotion because they are too compromised in their life, or lack the courage to go through the period of darkness to reach this level of dedication.

When you live with conviction, commitment or devotion, you may find yourself subjected to all kinds of judgments and criticisms. People in a dualistic state will project their own reality onto you and  misinterpret everything you do and say. The beauty of feeling true dedication is that it gives you the inner clarity and strength to not give a damn about what anyone else thinks, says or does. You know in your heart you are on your true path, and that is all that matters. Within that feeling, there is Peace, and that is the only thing that will guide you towards fulfilling your true potential and purpose.

Unless the people around you reflect the same level of dedication that you live by, you cannot expect to have a true sharing with them. Therefore, as the Buddha said, “Travel with thy equals or thy better. If non available, travel alone.” Your main focus is on having fun and being creative. This keeps you true to the nature of life, so you can be guaranteed that everything will flow in the right direction.
